blog session 6:

summary from http://www.theguardian.com/stage/2013/apr/08/margaret-thatcher-long-shadow-theatre

during her government as prime minister, margaret tatcher did not show a special interesting for arts, but she left a mark on it that nowadays it's possible to see yet. she shifted away public funding to private corporations, what meant arts council turned from an independent agency to a government department.

norman st john-stevas always said that tatcher guaranteed that in culture and arts there would be no a "candle-end" particularly talking about funding in that area of her mandate. well, the underfunding  between her government began with a 4.8% grants and ended with a 2.9% of cuts in arts council. in 1987, her arts minister richard luce said that anyway the only solution to this problem would be attract enough customers to support the arts. to do  this she wanted to use the british theatre popularity.

andrew lloyd webber as an icon music composer was chosen by margaret to complete the mission for save culture revenues. the report's author says during thatcherism the only form of theatre that had been doing was musicals - like les miserables, the phantom of the opera, and others - form that identified the cultural practices in 1980's. British companies pushed for promoting theater activity through musicals.

in spite of tax practices from thatcherism, there were a group of dramatists leaded by howard brenton and tony howard who wrote a satirical attack to margaret produced at the theatre royal, a short sharp shock. the play was a controversial work, however it put on theatre a strong character both in reality and scene. other dramatists were subtler when they wrote about thatcher. one of them was caryl churchill with her top girls, where the dramatist gave a critical point of view about role of women in society, no need to be men.

as time passed, more dramatists appeared in cultural scene analizing thatcher as a character. dave hare in the secret rapture talked about the thatcher's rage came from some secret fact within her life. alan ayckbourn with his play a small family business portrays all the traditional family values pertaining to the values that thatcher wanted to promove.

nowadays, the fascination of british dramatists with the margaret's character continues. james graham's little madam propose a peripheral woman with ordinary problems as a common person. in the peter morgan's the audience she is represented by haydn gwynne who shows a thatcher over the queen.

blog session 3:

since i was a child i've been interested to know iceland. i knew about that country when i met the bjork's music. i remember my eldest sister listened that music when i was ten and i loved it from the first moment, strange sounds, strange voice. so iceland always made me feel a special feeling in my heart and during the time, i fell in love with the island. i don't know many things about that country because it's not within the european union so that there is not enough information from that there. i know that they drove banking business persons from iceland and they formed constituent assembly with a few politicians. i know from there its landscapes and architecture by pictures only and i know its music like bjork, sigur ros, mum, olof arnalds, among other artists not so well known. about food, i know they eat a lot of lamb and shark meat. they inherit many customs and traditions from viking and celtic cultures. they have a strong economy based on steel and other metals mining and sea products. they don't have many agricultural resources, so they almost buy all vegetables and fruits from other countries. their energy sources come from geothermal energy because they lived in a volcanic origin island. people are so happy there. i'd like to visit that place because i love everything that i wrote up before so i'd like to lived there. i've been finding out about study residences and i think i'm going to save my money, because it's a lot of money that i need to travel. i'm going to be a little elf coming soon.

Blog Session 2:

Always I've thought that my ideal job should be something related to Art direction in movies or illustrating story books for kids, or making graphs for theatre companies. At first, to work in Art direction I would need contacts who were working in cinematographic productions, national or international, I don't care where, but I care whom and what part of that job I would have to do. Specifically I would like to work in setting area. In illustration, I would love to do tale books for kids, stories to read before bedtime. The graphs for theatre companies are something that is happening now, because I've had working in posters and flyers. Any of these three jobs would make me happy. When I was a child, films were my reference in art life because my dad showed many many movies from all countries and all genres. I like every kind of job around graphic world and things that I could realize. I really don't know how difficult could be find a job like aforementioned... I think Art direction at films is the most difficult finding, because it requires experiences and some important contacts.

Blog Session 1:

To start my writting, during the first semester of this year I studied the audiovisual practices in theater design with bouquets as visual design studio or workshop audiovisual staging in which we had to make a short film as an examination in conjunction with my fellow class. In the theoretical part, I learned about postcolonial theory and Latin American theater, and new contemporary practices of the scene in the subect of theatrical theory II. Outside of school, I developed new techniques of drawing mixing analogous art drawing with digital techniques. With my best friend we were going to Quebrada de Macul to walk in a natural environment and we have been so relax and we really had fun. Also, in April I was working as a graphic designer and theater technician on a FONDART project in the second region of Antofagasta, which was paid. There I met a lot of new people and new experiences lived. In the familiar, I had many problems, except communication problems, we all have, however, already been resolved. My sister has cerebral palsy what is a problem for my family since she was born. Because of this my parents can not take trips so they are apprasing go to live in beach side.
